Some people are stuck in the unfortunate gap between shared hosting and dedicated servers. Taking shared hosting can is within the budget but once the shared ip got black listed then your site’s gonna be down. Taking the dedicated server is great choice but the budget is sky high and you’re only need it because of the full access root control with dedicated ip. Hmm, very tough choice indeed!
But then, there’s always VPS!
What is a VPS? Well, a Virtual Private Server (VPS, also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS) is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted. The practice of partitioning a single server so that it appears as multiple servers has long been common practice in mainframe computers, but has seen resurgence lately with the development of virtualization software and technologies for other architectures.
While that may be difficult to digest for the less tech-savvy of you, let’s look at the benefits of VPS.

6 Advantages Of Using VPS Services
I have to admit for starters in web hosting world, a shared hosting is best platform for you to start. As you get addicted to it, you wish to have more and more control of your website. VPS is the perfect answer for you! In case you’re new to VPS (Virtual Private Server) services, find out more about them here!
Here are 6 advantages of using VPS Services:
- Full root access –This means that you are your own boss. Install any applications you want and have full control over it. Any sorts of customization is supported in VPS as long as it’s compatible with the server specs.
- Lesser downtime — From the experience of our own customers who switch from shared hosting to VPS, they are able to keep track and monitor the server current status, restart or end the running applications and many more. Overall our customers are pretty satisfied after switching to VPS. The reason why you’re getting lesser downtime is because that you have control over the VPS in an isolated environment. This prevents any downtime caused by other applications or customers not related to you.
- Host unlimited amount of websites – This is great right? You have the chance of becoming a reseller and starts your new business. With the control panel license (Plesk/Cpanel Unlimited), you may host unlimited websites. Furthermore, you are having the admin level control which means you may determine how much space, bandwidth, add-on domains/sub-domains, email accounts etc to be allocated to your each of your clients.
- Dedicated resources – Fully utilize the RAM resources! With VPS you will have your own RAM resources, no more sharing with other users as like a shared hosting environment!
- Higher security level – Unlike shared hosting, VPS only allows you, the only user of the VPS service, to have access into it and change the login details if you need to and nobody else. Thus, this increases the security level of your data.

Hello,
Great info. This sounds to actually amounting to reduction in energy usage as its virtual? Is that the case? Any difference from physical servers in terms of carbon emission? Please advice.
Thanks,
vicky

Hi Vicky,
Thanks for your comment. We apologize for the late reply. Physical server consumes a lot of energy and causing greater numbers in IT budget. By using the virtualization technology (for example VPS) it helps to reduce energy cost and become more efficient as well as minimizes carbon emission.
